> Should movies that are part of a television series be sorted into the movies directory or the TV shows directory? Neither. It really speaks to another level of categorization for the digital media in question. Something like "Franchise", "Compendium", or maybe "Oeuvre" if you want to get fancy. This is particularly true if you look beyond video files. Written works get turned into spoken works all the time, and then made into movies and/or TV series. Look at something like Watchmen or The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, or the even more sprawling list of creative works set in the Star Wars or Star Trek universes. Superhero franchises might even need a level beyond that, even if you just stuck to the movies. How many times has Spiderman or Batman or Superman been either rebooted or given a sequel? How many crossovers have been made that tie together a bunch of Marvel or DC characters? It's a complete mess that no binary choice at the top level of the hierarchy is going to sort out. 5cfad917a557aef739aa2006f6ce3fd773fe42907c51b4dffb33f19e1f7ecbda
