Here's to the giants

Dennis Ritchie has also recently died. While I can't say I had any personal connection to him, and he certainly isn't as visible outside the tech world as someone like Jobs, he was unquestionably a huge influence on modern computing. He created the C programming language, which is the foundation of Objective-C, which is the foundation for all of our lovely little iPhone apps. And that's just one of countless direct influences. Sir Isaac Newton said it best:

If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.
