The Power of 10
Can you believe it's already been a decade since I unleashed the RAGtag redesign of Impossibly Stupid on the world?. That's a lot of years. If you tally them, it looks like 1111111111, which is 210-1 in binary, which is 1023, which is the node number of this very post! Now, it's true that node numbers haven't really mattered since I switched away from Drupal, but the happy coincidence has me planning another site redesign!
As I mentioned in my last post, I'm looking at seeing how well Fossil works for some of my projects. In fact, the source for this site is already in a Fossil repository (and this is the first new post committed to it!). In getting familar with the software, one thing that immediately jumped out at me was that Fossil web page generation was a lot like my RAGtag process. So this site could be a Fossil site!
And that will be my experiment over the next few weeks. This is the last "node" post. Anything new is going to go into Fossil as a wiki page. I still have to figure out how all the old content gets referenced, so things might look a bit wonky for a while as both versions are running side by side. My aim is to ultimately have a site you can download and run locally offline, and/or more importantly, a blog that I can update even when I'm in airplane mode. Stay tuned to see if that satisfies me for the next ten years . . .
